Hi All,
I am looking for a way to get a fully system controlled kanban-like setup for materials.
Currently, the kanban setup is as follows:
Material X is supposed to be replenished through kanban. Therefore:
1) A control cycle is created (classic kanban)
2) Material Master is adapted accordingly (JIT delivery schedule: 1, etc)
3) Schedule agreement is setup accordingly
-> kanban indicator: Y
-> PDT = agreed JIT replenishment time
-> binding on MRP: 1
To trigger a replenishment, a production worker can scan the barcode "set kanban to empty" or could manually set the kanban to empty in PK13N.
This generates the summerized JIT call that is then printed to PDF and sent to the supplier. When the replenishment arrives, kanban is set to full either via barcode scan or via transaction PK13N.
Although the system works well, it is visually controlled and not fully transparent (--> actual kanban qty is unknown until it is consumed and set to empty).
Please correct me if I'm wrong but for me this is nothing else than a human controlled reorder point.
Therefore, the desired solution would be a system controlled reorder point. The tricky part is, that the JIT call (or similar) has to be generated immediately due to low kanban quantities in order to avoid stock outs.
So far, the closest solution I could find was to plan storage location stock seperately (Planning Storage Location Stock Separately - Special Planning Processes - SAP Library) and setting the procurement type to "direct external procurement".
Unfortunately that leaves me waiting for the MRP run to identify the reorder point being broken and then flagging the material for replenishment (through a purchase requisition).
Is there any way to have a JIT call (or similar) generated instead of a purchase requisition? And how can I ensure that the reorder point triggers immediate replenishment without MRP run to be carried out (MRP is running only every night)?
Hope this is not too confusing ;-)
I am thankful for any tip!
Alex
