Which combination of UOM is apt?

Hi

I am working with Microsoft Dynamics SL Program. I want to standardize the UOM's for all the items in inventory. I do not require the Sales UOM.

What combination is more apt for the items if I want to stock items like Monitors, keyboards etc.

Stocking UOM = 1, Purchase UOM = EA

or the combination as

Stocking UOM = EA,  Purchasing UOM = EA

Also for the cables coming in Roll, FT, Metres...

St Unit =1, PO UOM = FT. or St. Unit = FT., PO Unit = FT

I think that both these combinations produce the same results but I need to standardize and set a benchmark.

Please help me out. I have read many discussions about the UOMs on this forum with your answers. I would really appreciate it.
